  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks Esmi … I just need some clarification before I do anything:

My theme is Thesis-16 so what do I name my current Thesis-16 folder? and what will happen once I do that?

I am not a pro so I need just a bit more help, thank you!

    Try something like Thesis-16-old.

what will happen once I do that?

The Twenty Ten theme will automatically be activated.

Interesting … when I reset the plugins folder, I could see the site again (without the plugins of course). Once I deleted the “new” plugins folder and renamed plugins-hold to plugins, the site disapeared again.

Does that mean I need to reinstall all my plugins in the “new” plugins folder?

These are the steps I took to reset the plugins folder:

    Create an empty plugins folder

    * Via FTP or your host’s control panel, navigate to the wp-contents folder (directory)
    * Via FTP or your host’s control panel, rename the folder “plugins” to “plugins.hold”
    * Via FTP or your host’s control panel, create new folder called “plugins”
    * Login to your WordPress administration menus
    * Via FTP or your host’s control panel, delete the empty “plugins” you previous created
    * Via FTP or your host’s control panel, rename “plugins.hold” back to “plugins”

Reset the plugins folder back to “plugins.hold” and create the new “plugins” folder. Then move your plugins from “plugins.hold” to “plugins” one-by-one until you find the problem plugin.

    Here is what I did:
    – rename “plugins” folder to “plugins-hold”
    – create new folder “plugins”
When I did that,, the site reappeared and I was able to go to my admin.

    – transferred all my plugins folders from “plugins-hold” folder to new “plugins” folder.
When I did that, the site disappeared again.

    – I did rename my “Thesis-16” folder to “Thesis-16-old” and that did not seem to accomplish anything either before or after I moved the plugins from one folder to the other.

So I still have not resolved my problem. I wonder if I need to upgrade my Thesis-16 as well? Could that be part of the solution?
Are you familiar with Thesis themes?

Okay, we are making progress … thanks for all your help!

I figured out that the problem resides in my shopping cart plugin. I have been using wp-e-commerce but now with the new version of WordPress it is not working. I went to look if they have an upgrade available, but I can’t even find it on the shopping cart list.
I basically use paypal so I need a new shopping cart system that will work with Paypal, preferably a free one, of course. Is there one you can recommend?
    Thanks again,

wp-e-commerce is Compatible up to: 3.0.3

maybe try uploading a fresh download and see if it works.
    or try their forums
