    Hi,

I wanted to know the difference between using the Cache preload functionality with and without a sitemap? Is it faster to use it with a sitemap? If so, what format should be the sitemap, xml or html?

And if I use a sitemap, do WP-Optimize only preload the pages contain in the sitemap even if the sitemap is not up to date with all the latest content (to be cache) of the site, causing some content (not yet added in the sitemap) not to be cache?

I just want to make sure that all the content of the site is properly cache and preloaded.

    Thanks.

  • @wrdprssmstr WP-Optimize reads sitemap.xml while loading urls via Preload, by default the sitemap format should be in xml format.

If you use any SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO, the post pages will get automatically updated in sitemap.xml file, so you don’t have to worry about updating the sitemap.xml file.

@bornforphp We are using “Sitemap by click5” which automatically updates the sitemap.xml also. Since we’ve installed the sitemap plugin for the sole purpose of using it with the cache preloading feature of WP-Optimize, we wanted to know if there is any speed (or other) advantages of using the sitemap to preload the cache instead of letting the cache preloading feature do its thing independently, because we were thinking of getting rid of the sitemap plugin and the sitemap.xml file altogether.

Since our website only serve a local community we don’t have and we don’t need any SEO optimization plugins or tricks on it.

And we are currently trying to unbloat the site from all unnecessary plugins because the admin section is sluggish and slow.

@wrdprssmstr Certainly having sitemap.xml will do the preload faster as WP-Optimize scans the sitemap.xml and preloads the cache.

If you are using another sitemap generation plugin thats fine.
