    Hi Ben,

a few days after installing Independent Analytics I noticed that page views and search engine traffic were not so accurate, so I installed another analytics plugin (Burst) and after almost a month of using both plugins, I noticed quite a big discrepancy between the two plugins.

There must be something that is not working properly, Independent Analytics page counts are very low and I’m afraid the plugin is not tracking in a correct way.

    I truly appreciate your help.

Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I am not aware of any issues that would cause inaccuracies in the metrics recorded by Independent Analytics. Usually, our metrics are similar to Google Analytics or a bit higher since many people block the cookies that GA uses. I’m afraid I’m not familiar enough with the tracking methodology used by Burst to provide a reason for why our stats are different.

If you haven’t cleared your cache since installing Independent Analytics, make sure to do that now. There is a chance that cached versions of your pages are being displayed from before the tracking script was added, but that’s the only thing I can think of that would cause a lower amount. You’ll know if that’s the case after one more day’s worth of data.

    Thanks for your quick reply!

I’ve just cleared the cache (WP Super Cache plugin).

Will get back in a few days time.

Thanks! I visited a few pages and saw the tracking script firing successfully on each page (screenshot). Let’s see if anything changes.

    Hello Ben,

after about 10 days I’m pretty sure there is a problem with the tracking code.

I’ve just realized there might be the same problem on another website, while monitoring 404 with Rank Math, there are thousands of 404 errors on this URL: wp-json/iawp/search; a quick search brought me here.

I suspect this may be caused by the plugin WP Hide & Security Enhancer, any idea on this?

That’s very helpful thank you. “wp-json/iawp/search” is the REST API URL that our plugin uses to record views. For it to return a 404 error, this most likely means the REST API has been disabled. Could you check for an option to disable the REST API in the WP Hide & Security plugin and see if turning it back on has any effect?

Here’s a screenshot of the WP Hide & Security Enhancer PRO – Rewrite settings, which one should I disable in order to get Independent Analytics work properly?

It sounds like this option that blocks the API for non-logged in visitors is causing the issue: https://d.pr/i/e1tbVG

Try switching that to “No” and let me know if the tracking then works.

Thanks a lot Ben, will switch that option right now in both websites and then will get back to you in a few days.
