Different sitewide banners on specific pages for child theme virtue

If your wanting to control the banner that is an image tag so you can’t add as a background. You would need to change the php in header to output the image as an image tag.

templates/header.php line 85. You would need to add the “if” statements there in php to output different images based on which page.

like

1. you can remove the normal theme call for image right above your code since you would be outputting the image differently but it would still be important that you have an image added as the banner else this would be false
if (!empty($virtue['virtue_banner_upload']['url'])) { ?>

2. The page you linked to is term 9 not page 9. It’s a product category not a page and that makes a big difference. For something like that you would need to use is_product_category

In your theme options > main settings have you set a banner? Because if nothing else that should show and it’s not? Can you please confirm that you have in fact assigned a banner.

Hello @britner! I was hoping you can help.. I have utilized all of the above on my site to put a different banner on the blog page, and it is not working, not sure where I went wrong? Code is below, line 82 to end:

The code above assumes you have added a banner image. And that your blog page has the page id of 5

Can you post a link to your site?
Are you making sure to use a child theme?

Hi @britner, sorry about that! I’ll def keep it in mind for next time.
I do have a sitewide banner image uploaded. And I BELIEVE the blog page is 5 but that may be my mistake. I am using a child theme.

Your blog page appears to be id 5 but you have set it to be the latest posts page in your settings > reading.

so you should change is_page('5') to is_home()

Other then that without seeing your child theme I couldn’t guess from the outside.

@britner sorry for late reply somehow I am not getting email notifications.

I changed to is_home() but did not work. Can I paste the whole child theme header.php here? Or is there another file you need to see?

In your child theme are you placing the header.php file in a templates folder?

I am not, it is placed in “virtue_child”
Should I place in a new folder called templates within the theme folder?
