    Hi,

I’ve been looking for something like this for a while and I’m glad I came across your plugin – I think it will offer everything I need. Unfortunately, I’m not that experienced with WordPress and I have no coding knowledge but I’m willing to learn so apologies in advance if my questions are a bit stupid/obvious!

I added the shortcode to a login page as I want my users to register and be logged in before submitting posts and the form easily appeared. However, when I tried to register a new user with test credentials it came back with a ‘user does not exist’ so that made me think the form is to log in and not register.

Does this form ([usp-login-form]) take care of both registration and login functions or is it log-in only? If log in only, where can I find the registration one? If it covers registration as well, would you have any thoughts on why I was told that user does not exist and how I could fix that?

Many thanks in advance! Love the plugin’s potential and look forward to making the most of it ??

    Glad to help:

    1) “Does this form ([usp-login-form]) take care of both registration and login functions or is it log-in only?”

It depends on your site settings. Specifically under the General settings, there is an option to enable user registration. So when that option is enabled, then the form will display the user registration tab. Otherwise if that option is disabled, then the form will not display the user registration tab.

    2) “any thoughts on why I was told that user does not exist and how I could fix that?”

The registration functionality works normally on default/new WordPress installation. So probably it’s some issue with the specific site. Could be an issue with another plugin or maybe something weird the theme is doing. The best way to figure it out is to do some basic troubleshooting. I would be glad to provide a free guide if it will be useful for you.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can provide any further infos.

Hey Jeff, thanks a lot for getting back to me. I’ve tried enabling that setting as you mention under the ‘general’ tab, but the registration tab still didn’t appear. i see the same login only screen.

Any other suggestions you think I could try? I also cleared the site cache just in case, but that also didn’t change anything.

    Hi adrian,

You’re very welcome, glad to help anytime.

I just re-tested the login form on default WP install and the Register tab is showing normally. If that is not happening on any given site, it means there is something interfering with normal functionality. In general that typically means that some other plugin (or maybe the theme) is doing something that prevents normal functionality. As already mentioned, the best way to figure it out is to do some basic troubleshooting. I would be glad to provide a free guide if it will be useful for you.

Also just to be sure, I would double-check that the General WP setting “Membership” is enabled.

    Hey Jeff,

Thanks again for the quick follow-up. Could you please:
    1. send me a screenshot of how the registration should look like – just to make sure I’m not an idiot and missing something obvious.
    2. share the troubleshooting guide as well so I can have a look and try and fix my issue.

Unfortunately I did double check and is ticked ??

    Yes absolutely:

Most likely there is some plugin conflict or similar. The troubleshooting guide will help to find the plugin or theme at issue.

Hey, for the screenshot, i meant a screenshot of how the registration / login form should look like on a live page ?? but that one of the general settings helped too

Ah ok here is a screenshot of the USP Login/Register form.

Also I just checked your page and it looks like the register tab is displayed. Not sure if you got it sorted or maybe possible browser issue?

Hey, thanks for sharing. I used the troubleshooting guide and turned my plugins off 1-by-1 and the registration tab appeared. Not sure which one was creating the issue though, as they’ve been all been reactivated and running all night and the register tab is still there, so I’m a bit puzzled. However, it is clearly a plugin conflict somewhere, so I’ll know how to fix it if it comes up again. Thanks a lot for your help ??
