I have been trying all afternoon/evening to configure Postie and am having difficulty getting to play nice with my e-mail servers.? First, I went with the webmail of my ISP, but it will only post text, but not a post with any images.? If I try to post images, it creates a tmp. post with no contents that stays in draft status. The image gets transferred to my WP media library, but not to the post.

    • My settings were accurate because the text messages processed fine.
    • It is clear that my IP allows access from Postie because the text messages were processed normally.
    • They were small image files, so memory is not the issue.
    • I suspected it is because the webmail client does not support html/rich text.

I created a new Gmail account and despite trying different configurations, Postie is not able to log in. I have tried the following settings. (I have enabled POP for all mail on google.)

    Connection: Sockets
    Mail Protocol: POP3-SSL
    Port: 995
    Mail Server: pop.gmail.com
    Mail User ID: Email address
    Password: Email password

Response: POP3 – Could not connect to POP3 server pop.gmail.com on port 995. Array
    (
[0] => -ERR [AUTH] Username and password not accepted.
    )

I tried changing my password to ensure they were the same and ensure that two-step verification was not activated. I am certain the username is correct. I tried it and got the same response.

    I then tried:

    Connection: Sockets
    Mail Protocol: IMAP-SSL
    Port: 993
    Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
Mail user ID : Email address
    Mail Password: Email password

And received: “ Unable to connect. The server said: IMAP – Could not connect to IMAP server imap.gmail.com on port 993. Array

    (

[0] => A0002 NO [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure)

    )”

I have never received a blocked sign-in notification. I ran debug and have no idea what that all means, nor did it change anything. ?I don’t know what to do next. Do you have any guidance?

    Thank you.

As an addendum, I was able to get Postie to connect to the GMail account on Pop3-SSL by assigning an app password, but I am still experiencing the blank tmp drafts with no content or image and the email remains unread on my Gmail account.

Sounds like something unusual is happening when the images are imported.

Please install the support AddOn and following the instructions activate the addon and collect detailed logs and send them to [email protected] and I’ll take a look.

Thank you. I did as you asked. Strangely, in three attempts two out of the three attempts did work, and two posts were made, although not perfectly. The ones that did appear do not show in my “Recent blog posts” on the front page. One of the attempts worked perfectly (the first.) Of the next two attempts, I received the empty tmp file, but then later one of them posted. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on this.

You might try disabling all your other plug-ins and test the email again. It’s possible that there’s a conflict between plug-ins.
