    My theme is Kalium.

I do not currently have MMM enabled because of this issue. I would need to enable MMM for it to be experienced. My theme’s default menu is being used. I can enable MMM so the issue can be experienced, but I do not want to leave it on indefinitely because the issue affects the user experience. I have only tried Safari on my iPad.

The MMM menu works great in every situation except the one listed in the topic title. On a tablet (in this case, my iPad) in landscape mode.

I have no issues at all with it on a laptop. I have it set to hover. The child items descend from the parent without issue.

The mobile menu works correctly on a phone as well, and the mobile menu is obviously enabled when viewing my page on an iPad in a portrait (vertical) configuration. That works correctly as well.

However, when I hold my iPad in landscape mode, the non-mobile menu appears to be used. This doesn’t seem to matter on the menu items that do not have child items. I can click the item on the menu, and it sends me to the proper page However, when I touch a menu item that has child items, the menu expands as it should to reveal the second level pages. But, the child items that appear are not clickable. Try as I might, they just don’t seem to be clickable. They appear, but can’t be clicked.

I tried changing the Event in the MMM settings from ‘Hover’ to both ‘Click’ and ‘Hover Intent’, and neither seemed to fix the issue. I have cleared my cache several times.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Can you set up a test site or a test page so I can check this on my own iPad?

    Regards,
    Tom

    Hi Matt,

Thanks, I’m able to replicate the issue here too. It’s possible even using chrome developer tools if you switch to responsive design mode and select ‘iPad’ as the device.

It is a conflict with the theme somewhere. If I block this file:

    https://staging1.matthewbenderstudios.com/wp-content/themes/kalium/assets/js/main.min.js?ver=2.9.4

… it all works as expected. Your theme must be detecting iPads and changing the behaviour, but as the file is minified I can’t narrow it down any more than that. I can see Kalium is a paid for theme and I think your next port of call should be your theme authors – they will have a better understanding of what that JavaScript is doing and hopefully have a workaround for it also.

    Tom,

Ok, that makes sense. I thought it may be related to the theme in some way.

I’d found that a few others had a problem with MMM on iPads in landscape mode. Nothing that matched mine, but similar. So it seems like a not uncommon issue across various themes.

This is good info to have. I’ll reach out to them and ask them about it. Thank you very much for your quick response, it’s very much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Matt

    Hi Matt,

We have a lot of users (with a lot of iPads) so you’ll find a lot of topics about iPads. This particular issue I haven’t come across before ??

    Regards,
    Tom
