So I’m currently testing WooCommerce with WordPress to relocate a Joomla site where they sell cd’s; physical and digital. I tested the woocommerce plug-in on a local host and I like what I see (WooCommerce has more option’s than I thought). I’m a little confused about the Digital/Downloadable product stock in a variable product. Can’t seem to find the answer in the documentation.

In my test store I added a variable product with three option (physical, MP3 and flac) the digital products go to the .zip files stored on my site, host has 200GB storage and I need 20GB for flac and MP3, so no need to link to Google Drive. One of the problems I have with the current joomla store and I think it’s the same “problem” in the WooCommerce store is that I can’t seem to determine the stock for download products on a variable product. Is it possible to mark download/virtual product in a variable product to never go out of stock? I can’t seem to find a way to set this up. Setting it to one million is a bit idiotic in my opinion (that was the Joomla solution) is this a option that is added in the pro version?

I never had to use WooCommerce so I a newbie with this plug-in.

    Thanks for the info
    kind regards

    Hi @cd_be,

Welcome to WooCommerce first of all. ??

With WooCommerce you can certainly disable any stock management at the variation level. By default it should be disabled, but open up your MP3 and FLAC variations and make sure the Manage Stock? Checkbox is disabled.

Just set their stock status as in stock from there and they can’t ever run out.

    So simple! Thanks!
    That fixed my problem.

I think I have everything figured out about the store. I’m fan!
Sadly I can’t test the download link via mail on my local MAMP host platform.
So that costumers don’t need a account to download bought music files. But what I have seen in the video’s and read in the documents I think that will solve itself once the store is live.
