I need that after the process is completed (payment completed), download is forced and the customer receive an email with download link.
Now (i’ve made some test) customer see the download page, but he had to click to download and no mail is sent.

Mail server is well confgurated and I receive notification, or user receive notification.

    In product details i’ve selected:
    virtual and downloadable

in woocommerce setting->product->downloadable products setting for product i’ve selected this:

    File download method: force download
Filename: Filename Append a unique string to filename for security

in woocommerce setting->email->completed order: enable send email

Sorry if the topic is simple or you’ve just answered.

    thanks for your help.

    Hi Marco!

    Thank you for contacting us!

By default, the customer will need to click the download button to download the files.

This is intended because there may be multiple files available for download.

Regarding the email issue – I highly recommend going through the Email troubleshooting steps described in our Email FAQs here: https://woocommerce.com/document/email-faq/

Let us know how it goes! ??

    Hi,
thanks for your quick reply. So, could you explain what’s the meaning of “force download”?

is it possible to “force download” for multiple files after purchase? or download a unique zip file?
i’m asking because we need the customer to download the files for sure.

i’ve installed WP Mail Logging plugin and now i’m working on email problem:)

    thanks again.

    Hi @marcomarencoteacupit ,

Please confirm that you set the force downloads correctly? Below is detailed documentation on this:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/digital-downloadable-product-handling/

For additional clarity, are your downloadable files stored directly in your WooCommerce media files, or are they stored on cloud storage, such as Dropbox or Google Drive? If they are stored on cloud storage, then these only work when the file download method is set to Redirect only.

In order for the order status to change to Complete automatically, the product would need to be marked as both Virtual and Downloadable.

    Hope this helps ??

    Hi Roxanne,
?? thanks for your quick reply.
My products are stored in Woocommerce media files.
I was wondering: there’s a way to “force download”, so in the page of order completed automatically download start, without a click?
I’m asking because I’m not able to understand what’s the meaning of “force download” voice in Woocommerce setting.

    >In order for the order status to change to Complete automatically, the product would >need to be marked as both Virtual and Downloadable.
it was my mistake. I don’t check on both virtual&downladable. I’ve made a test now and the orded is signed automatically as completed.

    thanks again ??

    Hi @marcomarencoteacupit!

I was wondering: there’s a way to “force download”, so in the page of order completed automatically download start, without a click?

The default behavior is that the files become available as soon as the customer completes checkout, additionally, they receive an email with the link to download the product. If you’d like to start the downloads immediately that would require further customizations.

I’m asking because I’m not able to understand what’s the meaning of “force download” voice in Woocommerce setting.

Force Download in WooCommerce means that the downloads are forced using PHP to ensure that they are protected from direct linking.

    Thank you!
