Direct DB Access or DB connect for Site Hosted on WordPress Servers

  • One of our sites is hosted on the wordpress servers. Is it possible to get access to the database through a tool like phpAdmin or by making a connection via a php script?

    Amend the contents of one field. For very specific reasons I want to remove some old IP addresses in the table wp_comments under the column comment_author_ID

    presuming you’re meaning a site on wordpress.com?

    If so then both phpmyadmin and FTPing scripts to the server are not permitted.

    If you are hosted elsewhere, then come back.

    Thanks for the info. It is on wordpress.com.

    As an alternative can I export the data, clean up that column and then import it again.

    I assume that I will get double posts unless I delete the existing ones.

    Is there a way to backup the DB on wordpress.com hosted before I try this?
