Directory links aren’t working…

    Hello and Happy Day!

    Several years ago I designed a nifty website for a customer, spent a few afternoons teaching them how to run WordPress and Connections, and then I went on my merry way confident that all was well with the world. And indeed things DID go well – your plugin worked wondrously, and I didn’t hear anything from my customer for years. So I was surprised the other day to receive an e-mail from my customer saying they were suddenly having woes indeed with part of the search function.

    On their “Membership” page they have a search function using a drop-down menu with the various categories listed, which works fine. If you use the drop-down menu and choose a category the various members in that category pop up. Yay! Underneath the drop-down menu there’s a list of all the various categories and the number of members that are in each category. Yay! BUT if you should click on one of the categories in the list, nothing much happens. The page refreshes nicely, but no members are shown. So the drop-down menu works, but clicking on the actual link doesn’t for some reason.

    So far I’ve tried a number of things to try to remedy the situation, including (but not limited to) staring blankly at the computer screen for ten minutes, randomly changing a few settings then panicking and immediately changing them back when it didn’t fix the problem, I tried checking the “Templates” option in the “Advanced” menu in Connection’s “Settings” area, I tried emptying the site’s cache, I even tried running around in little circles flapping my arms in an alarming manner while hollering “my life is a lie – there’s no such thing as truth or beauty!” but that didn’t work either so I stopped as it was worrying the dog.

    I’ve included a link to the page in question. As you can see the site was built with the Twenty-Fourteen template (hey, don’t judge). We’re using Connections Business Directory v. 10.2 along with Connections Business Directory Template cMap v. 5.4.4 and Connections Categories v. 1.0. As I mentioned, all was working well until roughly three weeks ago.

    If you have any suggestions or ideas I would be very grateful indeed!

    It is hard to say why this is no longer working. The only thing I can tell is that the category links seem to be rendered by a custom-coded solution because none of the Connections addons renders the category list in such a format/layout.

    I’ve been working hard on providing custom taxonomy support, and the release of Connections 10.2 included the first of major under the hood code changes. Unfortunately, I suspect these changes broke the custom-coded solution you are using for the category list.
