Don’t add it to any existing function. Just paste it at the beginning of functions.php outside any function.

Where do I find the functions.php file in the Awesome Support files?

As explained in the FAQ, this should be in your theme’s functions.php (eg. wp-content/themes/my_theme/functions.php).
