    Hi

I have updated my site yesterday to WP 5.5

Everything seems to be ok except for one little glitch:

The Disable/enable link is missing in the Themes details windowns. I have two themes – Vantage and Twenty Twenty. The link is missing in both.

This link is visible for the plugins though.

Any idea how to fix it?

    thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Just cause you are a newer user does not mean we do not know what we are doing. the release advisory does not need to be updated and WordFence already knew whatever you told them. I am sorry you feel that my communication style is confusing, that is the first time I’ve heard that one. The fact is you muddied the waters by saying the advice in the link I originally provided crashed your site when it did not. WP.org’s advisory about the update never offers any tips on how to disable features and it never will. That is what the forums are for so you came to the right place to get help disabling auto updates.

I’m not a new user – I built my first wordpress website over 10 years ago.

I did not “muddy the waters” about anything – I was simply asking questions to which you were giving me confusing answers, unfortunately.

The key issues have been clarified now to the extent possible, as we are still not on the page. What you are referring to as “tips” are the important new wordpress version instalation information.

We can now finish this exchange and move on. Thank you for your support.

My apologies for thinking you were a new user.

I must say though that you did “muddy the waters” with this post: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/disable-auto-updates-link-missing-on-themes-wp-5-5/#post-13259450

You basically said it worked but it did not, so I provided you a different method and said this usually needs to go in wp-config.php since I do not know which plugin you are using and therefore can not support you with the plugin.

I agree we can move on from this exchange. You are welcome, I am happy to support any time that’s why I am here.

This topic has been resolved. I won’t be repeating myself. I am also removing any further notifications in this thread.

    Goodbye and good luck.

@magicpowers There is nothing to repeat. I was showing you where you confused me and created the circles that we went in for apparently for no reason. Good luck to you too.

    @binarywc

I disagree with your comment. The topic is resolved.

I HAVE STARTED THIS POST AND I FINISH IT.

    goodbye! ??

@magicpowers Look, I am a volunteer here and I am telling you that you confused me with the post I linked to about an hour and a half ago. Replying with all caps is very childish. You do not know what is confusing for me or others here. I am telling you what confused me just let it go since the thread is resolved. We can both learn from this to ask better questions and communicate better there is no need to post in all caps saying “I started.. so I finish…”

    Good luck to you.

the caps were accidental – sorry, they often lock in and I was in a hurry as my phone was ringing.

thank you for your great volunteer support! ??

I found this post looking for a solution for a similar problem.

I have to agree with @magicpowers here: The answers @binarywc gave here are misleading and unclear and he or she obviously did not understand the problems @magicpowers described very clearly.

If you are a volunteer supporter or not: You need to try to understand the problems presented and you have to try to answer them in a concise, meaningful and especially correct way, otherwise you do not help but increase the problems, especially if a user is not a veteran, but a newbie. Newbies would be completely lost with this kind of (in my opinion) very bad support. Even “volunteer supporters” should show a minimum of professionality and knowledge about the project he or she is supporting.

@xanathon I am sorry you feel my answers were misleading. I’ve been helping here on WP.org for some time… My answers are actually very public knowledge and I was just guiding the OP @magicpowers based on the info I know and the 15 years of experience I have in this field.
