Disable Browser Cache on homepage only?

I am having an issue where browser caching is preventing important changes on our homepage to be visible to the end user. Is there any way that I can disable browser caching on ONLY the homepage or on specific pages?
In the meantime I have reduced HTML expires headers from 3600 seconds to 300 seconds as an attempted workaround. If this is a performance concern please let me know! I don’t want to disable browser caching entirely but I may need to if there isn’t a better workaround.
