Disable creation of a single.php for certain categories

    All right, so when I have a post that’s like a status (which will be more relevant after 3.1 but I still have them now) I don’t necessarily want comments on it, and therefore don’t really need to have a single.php generated for it. Is it possible to just disable that for certain categories or no?
