    Hey,
I have somewhat of a big website (lots of products).

We do products import every day pretty much (about 5000 products).

however, I noticed nothing stops it from (sometimes) creating duplicate products where the SKU is absolutely the same.

I checked and re-checked myself to be sure… there is no difference between the SKU nor is there changes in the product’s name except maybe the price, category etc change etc…

Isn’t there a mechanism in WooCommerce that prevents this from happening?

And how do I make sure something like this won’t ever happen?

There can only be ONE SKU existing in the store.

    Thanks in advance,
    Amir

  • Hi @amirgelman,

Could you please clarify how you’re importing the products?

If you’re using the core WooCommerce importer, checking “Update existing products” will ensure existing products with the same SKU are updated – preventing duplicates. We have documentation on this here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

Please note that by default, existing products (products with the same SKU/ID) are skipped so I suspect the issue is from how you’re importing the products.

    Hey thank you!
    I’m using WP All Import.

Thanks for confirming! We recommend reaching out to the plugin developers for assistance.

In the meantime, I’ll go ahead and mark this topic as resolved since you’re not using the core importer.

    Cheers!
