Disable grouping of non-gallery images?

Let’s say I have a post with some galleries and seven individual images (i.e. not in galleries) –

If you go into any of the galleries, a lightbox pops up that cycles through only the images in that one gallery – this is how it should be.

If you click on any of the individual images, a lightbox pops up saying “Item [x] of 7”. Is there a way to make it not do that, but rather just pop up a lightbox for the one image alone, so that clicking on it will close it and not cycle through all seven images?

I have the all Grouping settings checked and also tried unchecking a few different ones.
