    Hi!

How do I go about disabling keyboard shortcuts? Either disabling them alltogether or disabling just specific ones would be great.

For instance, the shortcut (right ALT) + F causes tinyMCE to enter fullscreen mode, when trying to insert a left bracket character “[“.
Our users have been reporting their dislike of this behaviour.

We are running a network installation so editing the theme’s functions.php does not work for us. We could stick something into wp-settings.php though.

    Kind regards,
    mmihelic

why are you hitting alt+F to insert a square bracket? you don’t even need to press shift on either pc or mac!

Not everyone in the world uses the UK/US keyboard layout.
In our country the UK/US keys for {[]} are used for ????. So the only way to get [ is by pressing AltGr + f.
So on our site about 3000 users are affected by this.
Mac and Linux does not have this problem. It seems to be a Windows only problem, regardless of the browser used. That’s still 3000 users.

i see, apologies for assuming a US/UK layout as a global standard! oops…

I tried that. First I put the code right into the functions.php of a theme. It did not work. EDIT: The theme was used on the site I was testing on.
I also tried putting the code at the end of wp-settings.php but no luck there either.
Maybe the hook or option name have changed in the last 7 to 11 months since that thread was written.
