• Hello, I absolutely hate the new link boundaries that were introduced in wordpress 4.8. Especially when editing a page with a lot of hyperlinks it seems to significantly slow the editor down. Is there an option to disable this somewhere (I did look and search, but didn’t find such an option). If not, can we please get one added? I know I’m not the only one that doesn’t like this new feature. Thanks in advance.

Do you have any plugins that only work on the admin side? It’s possible they’re not adapted to work with this new function. If this is the case, you can try disabling them to see if speed improves. (And to be honest, I’m not sure what you mean by “slow the editor down”.)

    Not that I’m aware of.

Whenever I read this, I always think “how do they know this?” My first step is usually to check Trac, but I don’t see any complaints about this topic there. You are always welcome to submit a feature request in the “Requests and Feedback” subforum, where you will probably get a bit more traction on this issue.

No, no admin side plugins. I disabled everything in any case first to see if it improved this issue. When I try to edit this page: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/ for example the editor will hang for a few seconds before I can make any changes.

    Thanks for the response.

I asked if anybody knew how to disable this feature on Twitter and had several other bloggers respond asking me to tell them if I figured it out as they also wanted to disable this feature.

    Thanks, I will do that.

I have exactly the same issue. On a page with a lot of hyperlinks (about 50 images and few more text links links) the new code causes a delay of up to 10 seconds for each image when moving a cursor around. This is with all plugins disabled under wordpress 4.8.1. There was absolutely no problems editing the same page under WordPress 4.7.*

I must agree on Doctorofcredit’s suggestion; that Link Boundaries function sucks major monkey balls; I hate it too. It’s very devious and slows down the rythm of writing and editing*. Who made this up? It’s awful!

And if that’s not enough, than there’s that Link Boundarie thing for the images; even worse!

I can not understand why disabling this function would be something for plugin-developers; it isn’t. Someone at WordPress thought Link Boundaries would be a great idea, so someone at WordPress should give us WordPress users the option to turn it off. It’s really, really bad.

Excuse me for my English; it’s a bit rusty.

    Greetz.

*PS; it doesn’t slow down my site, so no conflicting issue’s here. Link Boundaries are just plain ugly to work with.
