I have a site that will have 7 blogs sitting at subdomains (ex: foo.example.com, bar.example.com). I however do not want to use the main site (example.com) and do not want users to land there. Is there a way to “disable” the main site and only use the subdomain sites that I create?

  • Not really. It has to exist in some form.

You can do a bit of a workaround and make a theme with one file in it that has a redirect to whatever you want. put that theme with the redirect on the main site.

You could lock it down with the members plugin, or you could make a chld theme, and use the home.php to redirect them to somewhere else..

Thank you for the suggestions. I went ahead an created a basic theme that simply redirects users to another website. Obviously not the most elegant solution but it gets the job done. Just glad I don’t have to maintain 7 separate installs of WordPress.
