Disable native gallery

  • I am aware I could do this easily by hiding the gallery tab from the media upload lightbox using css, however, is there a better way?

    Use nextgen gallery and find that having the native gallery as well can confuse people.

    I believe (untested) you should be able to remove the native gallery via

    remove_shortcode('gallery');

    But you could end up with un-parsed [gallery] codes in the content.
