• Been having a lot of issues with NextGEN creating tons and tons of image files in it’s cache folder. These are showing up in the WP media folder.

I disabled NextGEN and cleared out all the cache images. When I activated it, all the images started showing up again. This is really a HUGE hit on our server CPU and Memory. I can’t find any way to disable the caching function.

    Is this possible?

@randykepple – You are seeing the actual images being created in your Media Library? We do not currently use the Media Library for our images.

Is it possible there is another plugin creating a conflict which is sending images into your Media Library? What are you using for your default gallery path?

This is not something I recall seeing reported before and we would definitely like to get it sorted out.

    Thanks!

    Cais…

The answer to your question is YES.

Unfortunately, I’m no longer able to help you diagnose this issue. The blog in question was sold to a new group and those headaches are no longer mine. Thankfully. The near complete lack of support was beyond frustrating when it came to NextGEN. I’m sorry if that sounds mean-spirited because it’s not meant to be.

I think the problem comes down to NextGEN not being tested against such a huge database of images. We had a database with tens of thousands of images. Over the years, I’ve tried everything. And I mean everything. Even soliciting for custom code work on a freelance board. Seems that by the responses I received on that board, problems with NextGEN database were common and well known.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance. It’s been nearly a year since anyone has responded , so I simply moved on.

@randykepple – Thanks for the update all the same. I hope that going forward we would not be lacking in support.

I misread your original post was 11 months ago which would put your issues as being related to NextGEN Legacy and not the current NextGEN Gallery version.

This is still something we will keep in mind as we go forward, too.

    Thanks, again!

I’m happy to know you’re finally getting the shiny coat of paint dented and dusty! I kept hoping that things would change and eventually sorted when you purchased NextGEN. However, after spending over 5 years pulling out my hair over this, I decided life was too short.

Thanks for understanding and continued success moving forward!

@randykepple – Thank you, and please feel free to contact us directly if you come across another (current) NextGEN Gallery installation and have any issues with it.
