I’ve run into an issue and it’s common across themes that use the “Site Identity” feature to set a Site_Icon for WP core features. While the feature is helpful, it applies a Favicon to ALL pages, even podcast RSS feeds.

Even with the option for powerpress to disallow other plugins to mangle podcast feeds turned ON, WordPress inserts the favicon from the site_icon made in the customizer.

This results in the favicon being interpreted as the RSS feed image. It also causes the cast validator to remark that there is a favicon being set by the theme. Any theme that enables this basic theme function will do this.

Is there an option for powerpress to unset the site icon for podcast feeds? If so, then which is it. The apparent option may not be working for category podcast feeds.

    Hi jbmanos,

The “Do not allow other plugins to modify podcast feeds” function in PowerPress usually fixes this problem. If you haven’t cleared your site cache since enabling that, give that a try first.

If that doesn’t work, there may be an area in the Appearance section of your WordPress theme where a favicon has been set. If so, clear whatever’s been set there and save the changes.

If that doesn’t help, contact the theme developer and see if they can advise you on how to turn the favicon off within RSS feeds.

    Shawn,

Thanks. The theme is beaver builder and it’s using the vanilla core customizer theme support. This install is WP rocket and cloudflare so I can believe it if caching still had it stuck somewhere despite multiple cache flushes.

If the “don’t allow other plugins” option is meant to handle even theme support from customizer then I’m wondering if category podcasts are introducing a wrinkle for me.

Will investigate some more. Thanks for verifying that this function is supposed to correct the site identity. That helps!

    Hi jbmanos,

The “Do not allow…” function will usually remove favicon links from all feeds, even category-based feeds. I’m not personally familiar with Beaver Builder but we’ve found that “page builder” style themes sometimes cause problems with RSS feeds, as these types of themes tend to extend the functionality of WordPress beyond its standard operational mode.
