Disabling comments causes rh sidebar to drop

  • Hi,

    Can anyone help? When I tried disabling comments on a post, and then I viewed the same post, I noticed that the right hand side bar had dropped down to the bottom of the post. I checked this on other posts, and the same thing happens.

    I’ve also checked my site in IE7, and same thing.

    Is this a theme problem or has some code become corrupted?

    Ideas? Have I messed up something?

  • Not seeing it – it is difficult to say anything.
    Check:
    a) validation (maybe, excluding the comment form some div remains unclosed)
    b) the source code of the output

    its prolly exactly what Moshu said about the <div>s — trust me.. check your validation one a single post page when you have comments disabled.

    Many thanks for the pointers re the divs not being closed. I shall check that out.

    I’ve tried to sort this out, and there is a missing div

    When comments are off, HMTL validation is showing that the
    <div id=”wrap”> in header.php is not closed.

    I’ve had a look at the comments.php file, but cannot understand where I should place a </div>, if it should go here.

    Can anyone help?

    At the moment I cannot close the comments without having the right hand side bar drop down, and the ‘Comments are closed text’ does not appear to be showing.
