Disabling Link by Stripe
-
The ‘link pay faster’ button has just started displaying on my product pages and checkout. I am not a US based merchant and ‘link’ is disabled on my stripe account. ‘Link by Stripe’ does not appear under (settings > payments) ‘express checkouts’ so I can’t disable it. Any suggestions?

@kjelizabeth which plugin did you switch to? I would like to do the same to get rid of the problem on our site.
I have the same problem, any suggestions !
@walidlahbil The way to remove the Stripe Link button is to disable it from the Stripe dashboard itself: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/link

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know. We’re happy to help.
Was experiencing this as well (Link showing up, no apparent way to disable in the dashboard). I pulled Stripe v6.8.0 out of an old backup set and installed it in place of v.7.0.1 and that gave me the option in settings>payments to disable express checkouts.
That seemed to take care of the issue. Hope a new version is released soon that addresses this issue since it seems fairly prevalent.
EDITED TO ADD:
I saw the Github link and I found the comment with instructions to disable this from our Stripe account and that works for now. I hope you all are able to get the bugs worked out because I would love to have another option for a 1 click checkout. While it’s a bit disappointing that it doesn’t quite work well for us yet that part is acceptable. The part that upsets me is just having it show up uninvited on our website so I came in a bit hot and heavy on the post here. I had to spend a significant amount of time trying to figure this out today.
Thankfully you all seem pretty responsive to the issues raised here so I hope you get the bugs worked out and it works as intended soon!

I am also having this problem. I am a US merchant but still can’t control any of the settings. It started showing up out of the blue with no opt-in on our part and now not only can I not remove it but I can’t even alter the horrible styling which is really junking up our product pages. It is embarrassing the way it looks now with how bad the colors and positioning are relative to our theme and I am kind of surprised someone thought it a good idea to shove this down our throats this way.
I would love to see it addressed. I do not have link payments enabled in our Stripe account and none of my settings will save when I change them (Woocommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe > Customize express checkouts). I tried to disable the button on the product page using the customize settings and after saving I leave and come back and it is right back at the original settings again. Then to ice the cake it has completely trashed my stick add to card at the bottom of the page. I’ve tried settings and custom css and nothing is making any difference.
I am all for having as many ways to pay as possible and making it easy to checkout but this is not going to work and I’ll just drop stripe and use another payment processor before I let it stay this way much longer. It really looks bad.

@anastas10s saw your reply after I posted my workaround of uploading an old version to disable. Thank you for the reply.
Not sure if you have the ear of the proper group, but may I suggest not turning on Link by default in the dashboard? Seems that it caught a lot of people off guard. I wouldn’t care as much, but it seems to throw an error on our site with variation products (simple products worked fine, prompted a log in for Link)
Anyway, thanks for the link to the Link in the Stripe dashboard, I appreciate the help.
Hello, same problem as well. Have disabled express checkout for the meantime.

@mattsingley Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce
Hi @kjelizabeth @oscash @mattsingley
In addition to what @patrickhs mentioned above, the issue has been reported to Github as a bug here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-gateway-stripe/issues/2479
Can you please try the proposed solution on that thread and see if that works for you?
I would also suggest subscribing to the thread to keep posted for updates.
Hope this helps!
Hi everyone,
As of 10th November 2022, Stripe has rolled out a new feature where the “Stripe Link button” can take over payment request buttons (Apple/Google Pay), if Stripe Link is deemed more relevant to the user than the other options.
To disable the Stripe Link option, please disable it within the WooCommerce Stripe settings and also from your Stripe account.
To disable within WooCommerce:
1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Stripe
1. Under Payment Methods, uncheck the box for Stripe Link. Then, to disable within the Stripe account:
1. Go to https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/link
2. Disable the “Link in the Payment Request Button” option:You can read more about it here in our documentation: https://woocommerce.com/document/stripe/#disabling-stripe-link
same problem, when you plan to fix?
Hello,
same problem, when you plan to fix?
We do not have the exact ETA, since it is a new feature rolled out on November 10th 2022.
Is your site based in the US or another country?
To check better into your own case, please create a new topic at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/woocommerce-gateway-stripe/#new-topic-0.
We’ll be glad to investigate.
