Hello, this plugin sounds really great.

However, after installing I wanted to check my /feed/ page and this redirects to FB and doesn’t include any images – at least for existing posts, because not having yet a new one.

I read in your settings that “If it (this page) redirects to the Feedburner feed you may need to disable that for this plugin to work” – what does this mean exactly? I’m using the FD Feedburner Plugin to burn my posts to FB, but how do I disable the feed page from being redirected?

    Thanks!

  • Hi John,

It means disable that plugin and see if images show up in Feedburner… if so, then the feed URL needs to work as is for Feedburner to read it to get the images, and you should instead add a manual RSS icon or whatever for visitors to click on that manually links to Feedburner, keeping the raw feed working as intended, and allowing visitors to choose their own reader (many do not like or use Feedburner, Feedly is more common these days).

    Thanks Rob,

But I’m not completely sure I get the point here.
Do you mean that I don’t need to activate any plugin in WP in order for FB to work and send emails with new posts to subscribers?
And that, without the plugin, my /feed/ link would still remain available and that visitors would then have to chose their own reader – and that FB will continue to send alerts with new posts to subscribers?

Sorry to insist, just want to clearly understand your point.

    Many thanks.

Yes. I’d try deactivating it, see if that helps. Feedburner doesn’t need a plugin to work, it grabs your feed and pulls in your posts.

    Got it.
    Thanks for clarifying, I appreciate!

… and I confirm that it works fine and featured images are now showing into the feed page.

Waiting now to see how FB will send email notifications.

    Hi Rob,
After disabling the FB plugin posts were not being sent out anymore, so I activated the plugin again. Although I’ve seen featured images displaying correctly in /feed/ address, the email sent by FB did not have any images in there.

I tested with another site hat also has the same FB plugin active and I can confirm that featured images were indeed displaying correctly within the email sent out by FB.

But on this site I’m currently testing there were no featured images in the email.

The only difference I can see between both sites is that the one that works stores images on server, while the one that doesn’t work has only external links for featured images in posts.

    Is this the problem?

Also, I don’t well understand how FB will receive my feeds if there is no plugin installed at my site?
