Disabling resizing for administrators

    Hello,

    Your plugin looks very promising. I am building a multi-user site and have a simple question: is it possible to disable resizing for images uploaded by an administrator?

    The width limit for images uploaded by contributors and users with custom roles should be 1536 pixels. But sometimes the administrator might need to upload a page hero/header image, let’s say 1920 pixels wide. The administrator will act responsibly and scale and optimize the image before uploading.

    Is there a way to handle it, with some special function, either by disabling the resizing completely for admins, or setting a higher size limit for them?

    Hi Tom,

    There isn’t really a way to delineate that within EWWW, no. However, you could potentially use one of our other plugins that we manage, Imsanity. It lets you define different dimensions whether an image was uploaded directly to a post/page, or if it was uploaded directly to the media library, or elsewhere (such as theme headers).

    So for example, my guess would be that your users would be adding images to the posts, and you can have a certain image limit there, whereas your administrator can upload directly to your media library, and have a different size limit. Would that work?

    Thank you very much for your quick response! The users will create custom posts either through the usual method (the standard edit screen) or by front-end submissions handled by Meta Box. And there are quite a few custom fields, including galleries. The users will also be able to manage their image library. So, I think Imsanity would not be able to handle it in this case.

    I ended up asking AI to write a custom function, and after 2 attempts the AI seems to have got it right… It seems to be working, at least in my initial tests ??

    I will most likely use your plugin for conversion to webp and compression ?? This is the best one that I have found so far ??
