Disappearing images and widgets
-
I need help! I thought I had this issue nailed and now it’s reappeared and I have no idea why. Probably since the last major update to WordPress, my featured images have disappeared and my home page widgets are not populating. Something happened this morning and it all worked again, but an hour later the problem was back. I’ve fixed it for now by uploading a database backup, but I think it will be back within hours.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on? I’ve tried every Google search I can think of and the WP forums, but none of the suggested solutions work.
My post_meta table may have a corruption in it (from the diagnostics) but I can’t see where it is. When it happens and I look in the media library, all the images show the default icon, but they are still there in the file system. When I open a post with a featured image, the featured image field is blank (it was previously populated). Even when I upload a brand new image, it shows in Media Library with the default icon. When I try to edit it the file seems to be missing, even though I can follow the image URL link and there it is.
Any help with this would be really appreciated. I am at a loss to figure it out. I am using WP 4.9.8 btw.
I should add that I have tried disabling all plugins and reverting to the 2017 WP theme. I have also tried regenerating thumbnails and checking folder and file permissions.
