• I’ve been working on a WordPress/pixel post site for a few weeks now and at least twice, maybe 3 times, my sidebar has just plain disappeared. the last time it happened i took a look at the file and notice it was set to 0 bytes….

the template i’m using is relaxation…i was not even working on sidebar.php when it happened…i was creating an about page.

this is really frustrating as i plan to go live in a few days and i can’t reproduce this ….all i know is that something causes wordpress to overwrite the sidebar.php file to 0 bytes..or cleans out its contents resulting in 0 bytes

i just played with all the links for the last 30 minutes and can’t get the sidebar to disappear.
    thanks in advance

edit: just to be more precise, i never use the editor in wordpress…i use notepad and ftp files over..so you can’t blame the wordpress editor.

  • Yesterday I made a lot of changes to my style.css over a period of about 40 minutes (make changes, check site). Suddenly the site lost styles. Checked style.css and it was 0 bytes. I had to get a backup and update it again.

I was editing with notepad2 and filezilla for up/downloading. Didn’t see any errors, I assumed I had a failed process (either in my brain or on the server ;’). Been fine since then…

update: it seems this error was caused by my FTP-Client (WSFTP)..seems process would fail causing a 0 byte entry…this was not evident because i was not working on sidebar.php when this happened..it must be in the schedule settings.
