I have the most recent version of wp-topbar 5.22 running on wp 3.8.1. I know it’s supposed to work with caching plugins, but whenever I enable the css/javascript caching, wp-topbar disappears. I’m using topbar to display financial supporters for my clients, so they have to be displayed. Website – https://salemcountychamber.com/. Currently I have w3 total cache disabled since it doesn’t improve the page speed when the css/javascript caching is disabled.

Hmm… let me install W3 Total Cache on my test site to see what if going on.

I looks like you are using custom PHP?

I installed W3 Total Cache. Found jQuery wasn’t loading.

    I googled for an answer.

    Try this: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10453605/w3-total-cache-not-loading-cdn-jquery-before-cached-javascripts

    It worked for me.

Let me know if it works for you.

Hi – thanks for the reply, Bob. I don’t have custom php (don’t know PHP). This is a child theme using a free WP theme called “magazine”. I went to the link you provided but frankly, didn’t understand it. LOL – designer, not coder! Anyhow, I did try different settings in W3’s minify tab for the JS section and nothing made a difference. As soon as I ticked ‘enable’, I lost my wp-topbar. Uncheck the box and it comes back.

OK – here are detailed instructions and screen shots of how the settings should look when you are done:

    Login to your Admin account.

On the General Settings Tab (selected from the Performance|General Settings on the left admin column) — scroll down to the Minify section and set the Minify Mode to MANUAL

On the Minify Tab (selected from the Performance|Minify on the left admin column). Press the “Add a Script” button and enter this as the file URI:

    https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.10.2/jquery.min.js

I would also empty the page cache. (Select Performance|Empty all caches from the admin bar.)

Let me know if this works for you,

Thanks Bob! Sorry I didn’t respond sooner – had to leave for a personal situation. Your instructions were seriously helpful – thank you very much!
