• BackWPup was my go-to backup plugin until version 4.1.7. It was incredibly user-friendly, allowing me to create and download a database backup with just one click. I had installed it on multiple client projects, and its simplicity made it an ideal solution for all of them.

However, version 5.x has been a complete disappointment. The new changes have made the process unnecessarily complicated, and yesterday, I couldn’t even generate a basic backup—let alone a quick database backup.

For now I rolled back to 4.1.7, If the developers don’t release an update soon for BackWPup, I’ll have no choice but to uninstall it from all the sites I manage.

    Hi @caban13 ,

We are truly sorry to hear that version 5 has been a disappointment and has complicated your workflow. We understand how important it is to have a user-friendly and reliable backup solution, especially for managing multiple client projects.

Our intention was to streamline the backup process, but we recognize that the changes have not met the needs of many of our users. We’re actively working on restoring the simplicity and key functionalities that you enjoyed in version 4.1.7.

Regarding the one-click database download, while it’s not immediately available, you can still back up your database by navigating to the Settings page and using the dropdown in the backup history section. We acknowledge this isn’t the exact experience you were used to, but we are working on making improvements in this area.

We appreciate your decision to roll back to version 4.1.7 while we work on these improvements. You can continue to use this version for stability and functionality until our updates are ready.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to enhance BackWPup.

    The BackWPup Team
