• I’ve already translated 700+ strings to my language when I noticed that features like recurring events or Facebook connection are not included in the free version. Have a nice day!

  • Hi there muranyia. Thanks for the note here, and for sharing your thoughts on the plugin. While we’re obviously a bit disappointed ourselves to see you give it a one-star review based on the fact that paid features aren’t included for free, I want you to know we take this type of feedback seriously.

Interestingly enough, both the features you’ve noted here – recurring events, and Facebook Integration – are features we have available for paying customers. We’ve tried hard to make sure that it’s clear to all users what they get with the free version, versus what additional functionality is available in the separate paid add-ons.

I’d be really interested in hearing what led you to believe all of this functionality would be included for free; if folks such as yourself are misinterpreting the feature breakdown, that’s a major failure on our part and I’d like to get whatever messaging/content we have suggesting as much changed (so we can avoid this problem down the road).

Thanks again for the feedback – it’s this type of insight that helps us grow and improve as a team. I hope you were ultimately able to find a calendar solution that better met your needs.

    Thanks for the reply.
I guess it was sort of wishful thinking when I was reading “Looking for additional functionality including recurring events, ticket sales, publicly submitted events, new views, Facebook event integration and more? Check out the available add-ons.” and I assumed these are simple features that are to be enabled by addons. It didn’t occur to me that I would have to pay for those addons, perhaps also because the named features are not extraordinary or exotic, rather basic.
My presumption is that it will be easy for me to find a truly free plugin that offers these services.

As a developer that has written an events calendar of my own, and used every one of the others out there, I can say that recurring events are anything but basic. Generally they are a feature that most users need, but they are actually exceptionally difficult to program.

I only say this because I personally believe Modern Tri.be is perfectly justified in charging for those kinds of features.
