• I am a blogger and I was hoping that the update would give us more style options, like the ability to underline without having to add the code manually. I have been writing in Word and uploading to WP so that my text looks the way I want it to look with links underlined. Even MailerLite gives us that option.

I find that uploading into Gutenberg to be cumbersome. I have to go through my entire post and break it into block so that I can make my post look the way that I want and I have enough to do without that extra work. I have deleted the plugin for Gutenberg and I will use the classic interface.

  • I learned a keyboard shortcut a while back to make writing faster. Highlight the word (or phrase) you want to underline and use Ctrl+u to add an underline. Ctrl+i will italicize and Ctrl+b will bold. These work in the classic editor, too.

If you contact your theme developer, they may have custom CSS styles for your theme (Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS) to automatically underline links.

You don’t have to break your post into blocks from the start, this is one of the greatest misconceptions about Gutenberg; use Classic editor block, paste your monolithic content, slice and dice it every way you want, and then if you want to, convert it to blocks.

    Really, it’s not an issue.
