• It is really a low blow for the company not to disclose upfront in the very first sentence the FREE version does not have a FREE RESTORE option – it is a Paid-Only option. I’d rather use the free UpdraftPlus version then, even if they do not have a one-click download option.

    hello @pierrecor
We have clearly noted in the plugin FAQ section:
How do I restore a backup?

btw, just my curiosity, could you please tell me why 2 years ago, you already use the plugin for your clients and review the plugin:

Not much to say except it is easy to use and porting from one domain (dev domain) to another was a breeze. Have not tested it yet from PC to server but I asume it will be just as easy. Most of my clients have a relative static website and backups and sheduling is just as easy. Easy to make adhoc backups whilst in development mode or macking changes to existing websites. Would have loved to afford the PRO version for cloud uploads, but for now more than enough.

BackWPup is simplistic and quite intuitive; a powerfull tool for basic needs in the free version.

    But with a 1-star rating?

    FAQ section

How do I restore a backup?

A restore feature has been added to the Pro version of the plugin. For more information check this post. The Pro version also provides a Restore Standalone App. To have these and even more features get BackWPup Pro Version.

Sorry, does not make sense. Correct, two years ago I have added the FREE plugin to a website, and as always (as a longtime systems developer who worked with a few source code management apps including GitHub), my first task was to see if I can make a backup AND a restore – it was a no-go… If you have it in the FAQ, put the solution at the top. Kind regards.

    Hello @pierrecor ,

You can of course restore your backups which were created with BackWPup Free.
Full backups contain your entire WordPress install directory. Please take a look at our documentation to learn how to restore your backups.
    https://backwpup.com/docs/how-to-restore-a-wordpress-backup/

One-click restore directly from the WordPress backend and additional features including more destinations or premium support are available in BackWPup Pro.
We will soon update our plugin FAQ to make this information clearer.
    Thanks for letting us know.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
