•
I have been successfully using Shared Files on my webpages. However, when my subscription term expired, all the links in my existing webpages were replaced by This feature is available in the Pro version. I find it unacceptable that my website should be kept on a leash and subject to a yearly blackmail. The existing functions should not be affected by my decision to renew the subscription. I will definitely look for an alternative.

However this problem was happily solved, as can be seen by our correspondence below and I can therefore see no negative point with this plugin.

    Hi,

When the annual subscription expires, you should still be able to use the plugin normally. Could you please contact us at https://www.sharedfilespro.com/support/ so we could check what’s up with the license?

Giving a 1-star review is not really a proper way to handle this. We really do our best to make the system run perfectly.

This is regrettably not true. I contacted the developer, who had insisted that this behaviour was due to an installation issue. However, after reinstalling the plugin, the problem remained: instead of the links I had created while the subscription was still active, there was for each link a message prompting to buy the Pro version. When I reported this to the developer, I was asked to share my admin details in order for them to check if there was anything wrong. I wrote several times giving my access details but never got any answer whatever. Therefore I must also add that the support is ultimately not existing.

@pieemme We haven’t heard from you since I asked for the access to your site on Sun, 11 Dec 2022. Where have you sent the access details, could you please just reply to the message I sent?

I always replied to [email protected], from which I had received the request. I did so on:
    21/12/2022
    4/1/2023
    8/1/2023

I’m so sorry for this, I also checked our Google Workspace mailbox and we haven’t received such messages… are you sure that the emails were successfully sent? I created now a new license for you and sent it to your email. If you activate the plugin using the information there you should have a working license again.

Thanks, this fixed it. I was planning to renew my licence as soon as I had new files to upload but surely not expecting that existing links would get jammed.

I don’t know what happened with my messages, but they were sent from the same account on which we had corresponded earlier on.

    Ok, that’s good then.

The background for that getting jammed is that I experimented some different license types a couple of years ago, and one was that the paid features can no longer be used after the annual license expires. I realized then that it was not a good practise and changed the paid features to still remain after the license expires.

But I didn’t realize then, that the couple of licenses purchased in that period still had that feature on and your license was one of them. Those have now been manually updated, but for some reason the previous license didn’t update correctly on your site.

    Sorry again for the trouble.

Thanks for the clarification. Apart from this issue, I was always happy with this plugin.
