We’ve been using the new WC Admin tool since the update and recently the client noticed there’s discrepancies between the new reports data and the old data in the Woo Reports.

When comparing the data i noticed that by the old Woo Reports by default includes Processing, On Hold and Completed orders and that there’s an option to exclude statutes in the new WC Admin.

I managed to filter the old Woo Reports to include just ‘completed’ and ‘gift card’ orders to match the settings in WC Admin but there’s still a difference in revenue.

For example if i filter the date range to show August month as a whole i get the following figures:

    WC Admin
    £1,981,942.29 gross sales
    151,142 orders

    Woo Reports
    £1,972,605.86 gross sales
    151,305 orders

As you can see from the figures above, the new WC Admin shows less orders but more revenue than the Woo Reports.

My first guess was that the historical data import hadn’t completed but when checking the progress in the settings page it displays as completed.

I then went onto check to disable the Woo Reports caching incase this was causing old data to show but this hasn’t made a difference.

The issue we have now is we’re not sure what data is correct and the client needs to go in and export reports.

Is there another reason why the reports are showing differently? Like i said, they both include the same order statutes so there must be something else which is being included which I haven’t identified.

    Can you help please?

    Hi @lippiun ,

With the release of WooCommerce 4.0, these reports are becoming obsolete. It’s best to rely on the information in the Analytics tab, instead. That is available with or without the WooCommerce Admin plugin now, as it’s been integrated into the WooCommerce Core.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Thanks Mike,

I’m aware that the old Woo Reports are becoming obsolete but this doesn’t help explain why there’s differences between the two sets of data? Does the new WC Admin calculate the data differently?

I would’ve thought the Woo Reports would be more accurate as this is querying the data directly from the database. My concern is the data hasn’t been imported correctly into the new analytics tab.

    Hi @lippiun ,

The Reports and Analytics are working from different data sets and Reports haven’t been updated for some newer capabilities in WooCommerce and other extensions, so inaccuracies in the Reports can arise. In these cases, since Reports are no longer being maintained, the Analytics should be considered the source of truth.
