Disk space does not decrease

I’m doing some tests of cleaning files and freeing up disk space in wordpress. I uploaded hundreds of unoptimized image files to perform such a test. As a consequence I was left with just over 1 GB in the uploads folder. however after i delete these files and check in wordpress diagnostics again, the size remains the same. Do you know what it could be?

Note: when checking in the file manager the folder actually decreased in size. Different from what is shown in the wordpress diagnostics about disk space.
