• I use BackWPup with great pleasure and it works great on my private domain!

    However, on other 2 domains (different hosters) 2 different problems occur, of which I hope you can help me solve them;
    1) There is little space left in the account, so backup stalls/errors when Tar/GZipping all files, because of disk space. Can I solve this, without buying double webhosting space!?
    2) The backup errors because the PHP-handler on that server aborts because maximum runtine of 500 seconds is exceeded. Do I need to ask the hoster to fix this, or any other solution?

    Thanks in advance!

  • 1) No. because the archive must created, before it will be send to a backup destination. A option is the usage of the sync feature of the Pro Version. Than you can send file by file to backup destination and only some small files will created temporary.

    2) Use the max. execution time Setting in BackWPup | Settings | Tab: Jobs

    Thanks Daniel!

The one with the lack of disk space is now working after tweaking the settings.

The one with the timeout has a blank settings page (cannot access settings, with any of the users!). I reinstalled the plugin, and now I can tweak the settings. But even with no timeout (0), the upload process to Dropbox stalls everytime and causes error after multiple tries:

[13-Feb-2014 17:52:32] 1. Try to send backup file to Dropbox …
[13-Feb-2014 17:52:33] Authenticated with Dropbox of user EDIT (EDIT @ EDIT .nl)
    [13-Feb-2014 17:52:33] Uploading to Dropbox …
[13-Feb-2014 17:58:00] WARNING: Job restarts due to inactivity for more than 5 minutes.
[13-Feb-2014 17:58:00] 2. Try to send backup file to Dropbox …
    etc. etc. etc.

See 2. and set it to 30 secounds.

It was on 0 (no timeout) and with 30 seconds it still (even faster) times out, the max 5 times after each other, and then stops ??
Seems like an authentication problem, although in that tab its logged in and green (also reset it). On my other WPs (with other Dropboxes) it works fine!?

In one of the future releases i will chage the dropbox auth method to a new one. But this is in internal testting in moment.

Ok, keep up the great work, and thank!

(There is no method of more verbal/concrete info/log about why the authentication seems to stall/error in this case?)

No, the authentication is already done in this moment. Only a Header with the auth data will send an it is every time the same after authentication.
