I use the Updraft plugin for site backups, which stores local backups in /wp-content/updraft.
In WP Staging, I used the the “Files” section and unselected this directory (I don’t want to dupe my backups!). I then clicked “Check required disk space” and the figure (~50GB) must still include the backup directory, even though it’s not selected.
I don’t want to proceed in case WP Staging really does copy 50GB of data, since it will takes forever and likely run me out of disk space on my host.
Can you confirm that the Files section is ignored when calculating disk space?
    Thanks.

I decided to test it out creating a staging site. I deselected wp-content/updraft in the Files section and then hit go, but in the console output I saw it say it was skipping some files in the updraft directory since they were too big, which strongly suggests it was not skipping that directory! At this point I cancelled the process, deleted the files and then deactivated the plugin!

    Hello @sanrev,

WP STAGING does not copy any files larger than 8MB as the default setting, so none of your backup files will be copied.

Despite that, we need to improve the file calculation function. It does not take excluded folders into account.

    Cheers
