    Hi –

About a year ago, I created my first WP site:
    scopedin
Performance got slower over time. I’d read of other people with the same issue, so I assumed it was inherent to WP and didn’t give it much more thought.

    But…last night I made a second site:
    radiosilverbar
And this site is MUCH faster and more responsive. Logging in as admin is faster, editing pages/posts is faster, even viewing the site seems faster.

So…now I’m wondering what I did to make my first site so slow. Do I need to do some kind of periodic maintenance on the DB? It’s really not that big — about 100 Pages, and less than 2MB.

Could it be plug-ins doing this?

Any other ideas? I’d really like to do whatever I have to, to clean up my first site, to get some performance back.

    Thanks…

Any ideas? The performance difference is really quite dramatic. Same server, same version of the DB and WP, same everything…just one’s a bit more populated than the other.

At least can point you to WordPress_Optimization and don’t forget to check some of the items in the Further Reading section.

Well, I took the advice of eliminating some plugins and…wow. What a difference. For anyone else with performance problems, strongly consider limiting the number of spam-trap plugins you use. I had three, and performance was awful. I eliminated two and it’s pretty decent now.

    Thanks, Michael…I’ll mark this resolved.
