    Hello.
On my shop i have the shop page and sub categories and sub sub categories.
All categories have content (except the default which is “no category”)

But for some reason some categories are not shown on the shop page and the category pages.
How do i set which categories are shown on the page?

I have imported the products using a script, and the products are displayed ok.

only some categories are hidden for some reason…

I can access those categories if i know the full url of it, but not from the shop page.

  • Hi!

In Appearance – Customise you can choose whether the shop page displays products or categories or both. Subcategories will not display on the main shop page. Screenshot: https://d.pr/i/f65sPR

You can specify on category level whether to display just products in each category, its subcategories, or both, globally in Appearance – Customise. Screenshot: https://d.pr/i/vIdh6e

Each individual category also has its own setting, Display Type, where you can choose whether to display just products in that particular category, its subcategories, or both. Here’s the documentation.

If you need further options for working with subcategory visibility, you can try the extension Nested Category Layout.

Hello, Thanks, but that’s not what i asked.

I have 6 top level categories and various sub categories.

But only 5 top level categories are shown even if all those 6 have products (and do not have a parent category)

How do i show the hidden category?

Thanks for clarifying! So one category is not showing up?

Can you check in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Catalog) that the products per row and rows per page setting allow more than five categories to display? Screenshot: https://cld.wthms.co/IkHvyc

Are the products in that category published and in stock?

It may be possible that the theme is overriding the product display on archive pages (some themes override the default templates). You can check this by temporarily switching to the default Storefront theme and see whether your category reappears. You can do this without affecting the live site by using the Health Check plugin in Troubleshooting mode. I still suggest backing up first, though!

Let us know how you get on and we can go from there.

I am using elementor pro for the site and the hello theme.
And changing the products shown on the page didn’t make it appear.

All the products in that category are visible.
The category is accessible if i know the url. even without logging in.

I also tried the troubleshooting plugin and disabled all except wpml** and woocommerce, but nope, i cannot see the missing category on the site….

Well, i didn’t hesitate on updating the WordPress to version 5.6 because of possible plugin conflicts…
Now i updated the WordPress… and

The category popped in to the site!!!

    So problem solved!

Aha, I was busy thinking of next troubleshooting steps for you! I’m really glad you solved it ?? That’s certainly super odd but must have been a plugin/compatibility conflict somewhere in there.
