Display Attribute?

I have my events defined with a custom attribute, and it shows up when the user creates the event.

But it doesn’t show up when you view the event

/events/my-event-name/

and i’ll admin I kinda expected that to just work. Is the optimal path modifying the template, or code in my function.php file? I kinda feel like the best place is in function, can anyone point me to an example or snippet? I just want to display the attribute at the top of the page. Doesn’t even need to be conditional, as it will always be set.
