Display Author avatar as featured image

The template can call has_post_thumbnail
https://developer.www.ads-software.com/reference/functions/has_post_thumbnail/
and when there isn’t one, use some of the author functions with avatar functions.

Thanks for your reply. To be frank with you I’m still finding my way around WordPress and coding. if you can help direct me and tell me if there is a code or snippet I can use that would be great.

I pointed you to the functions to use. But each theme is different, so you need to ask at your theme’s support forum for what template to copy, and read about Child Themes.
