Display Captions in Thumbnail Galleries Shortcode does not work

Just update to v. 1.9.7 and all of my galleries with Caption displayed in thumbnail galleries using shortcode [ nggallery id=1 template=caption ] no longer work.
Does anyone have a fix for this.
