Display current Rendez-vous in page/post?

Firstly, I’m very new to WordPress, and anything having to do with web dev in general. So, please bare with me.
Is there any way to display the current event on a post or page? As is, it’s linked/displayed on a profile, which makes it a bit cumbersome to get to.
Also, is there a way to change how the very top row is displayed? The row with the date,, to something like: mm/dd/yyyy, or even just mm/dd?
