    Hi Gang,

    SCENARIO:
    Website: https://the-rv-life.com/
    Webpage: https://the-rv-life.com/rv-resources/rv-info-sites/

    1. Tried out CCTM Plugin – Custom Content Type Manager, works as intended, however, it conflicts with Yoast’s ‘WordPress SEO’ Plugin. I use the Yoast Plugin, so that leaves me unable to use CCTM Plugin.

    2. Next, I searched some more, and found Yoast did a blog piece on a plugin called Types … you can see it here … https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/types/ … it looks like a very nicely done plugin, and reliable. However, (and there is a ‘but’) the Types Plugin is free to the WP Community, but, alas, the Views Plugin, that would reputedly handle the PHP is a paid animal.

    3. I am needing a one-time php file setup on this website, for these displays on this one page of the website, which I know is not terribly difficult, though it is rather technical.

    4. So, that’s what I need the help with, creating and placing the php files in the right places with the right code … again, for this page on the website … https://the-rv-life.com/rv-resources/rv-info-sites/.

    5. This is simply a list display, in ascending, alphabetical order of the entries in the custom post type, ‘RV Info Sites’, with a slug of ‘rv-info-site’. The custom post type was created with the Types Plugin.

    6. The Types Plugin conveniently does not give too much tutorial guidance on setting up the php files and php codes as they would like to steer you towards buying the Views Plugin, which sounds like a very nice option for the future, but not for now.

    7. And since I am in love with the Customizr Theme and I am beginning to learn more about Customizr, such as, that it uses ‘object-oriented code’, according to RDell – “Czr has been built using Object-oriented code so the traditional php pages don’t drive the Theme. The code is generated using the php files found in customizr/inc & especially customizr/parts.” https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/custom-post-type-archive-page-2?replies=3, … I am beginning to think that I need to come to the Customizr Community for the help I need, rather than the Types Community since Customizr seems to have some uniqueness in the way it is written and built.

    Any guidance is appreciated.

    Thanks much,
    B

    @michael … there is a Customizr Theme user, using this plugin and loving it, so I am very encouraged. The Support Threads are active with resolutions. I will give this plugin a go, and report back the Customizr Community! ?? B

    Hi it currently supports custom post types using ‘post_type=whatever’
    and taxonomies [display_posts taxonomy=”color” tax_term=”blue”]

    @michael … yeh, I am so excited! … It sure looks like it’s gonna work! ?? B

    @michael & @all,

    1. Investigated the link you provided … https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/display-posts-shortcode.

    2. In my travels, I searched for tutorial help (Search String: ‘Tutorial for Display Posts Shortcode WP Plugin’) on YouTube, and I found a video by Kim Doyal | https://thewpchick.com/, … here is the YouTube Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB-vtn7-MFU. She says she sampled lots and lots of free and paid shortcode plugins, and by far, she says this one is her favorite, and that commentary is good enough for me.

    3. In the first plugin, there is …
    No Menu
    No Settings
    No Button
    No Setup
    and very little in the way ‘How-To’ for the noob user, like myself. It probably has its place for many users, it’s probably ‘lightweight’.

    4. The second plugin, the one I am going to try out now, which is free, is, ‘Shortcodes Ultimate’ … https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/shortcodes-ultimate/. For starters there is Settings, a Menu, and loads of Buttons/Features inside.

    5. I’ll be back to report joy or no joy.

    Thanks,
    B

    @all,

    JOY … JOY … JOY … !!!

    YES, to this plugin, it’s straightforward, pretty easy learning curve … it does exactly what I needed it to do … and it has the potential to do LOADS MORE! And it’s free! It has even more capability with premium add-ons.

    I highly recommend taking the time to install this plugin and learn to use it, it’s really quite impressive, very well-done, as in eye-candy pretty, but it’s got real bones and structure, meaning its ability to deliver lists, buttons, videos, boxes, and on and on.

    Also, it interfaces as we’ve come to expect in a plugin, you get a menu on the WP Admin Panel, and you get an ‘Add Shortcode Box/Button’ inside of a page/new page; this button sits just atop the ‘text entry box’ area, right about where you’d expect it to be.

    Overall, thumbs up!

    Cheers all,
    B

    SUMMARY:

    1. Did I get what I initially requested? No.

    2. Did I get what I needed. Yes.

    3. There are two ways you can look at this. To be a mechanic or not be a mechanic. For instance, … I drive the car, but I don’t know how to fix the engine or do mechanical repairs.

    4. So, what I got was a car that I can drive, I got a ‘magic key’ that lets me tell the car what I want it to do.

    5. If I ever want to become a (php/code) mechanic, and maybe I’ll have to one day, or want to, but I don’t right now, … because of this plugin, I don’t have to become a php/code mechanic.

    6. I’m gonna go drive my car now!

    7. Resolved.

    That really is an awesome way of putting it! Cool!

    Sounds like a good plugin, now this plugin, here
    for general site building is mind blowing awesome!
    You can do so much! Check it out!

    @michael, … YES, … see above, … that is the plugin I was raving about! ‘Shortcodes-Ultimate’ … Yes, Yes, Yes. I have it installed. See, what I mean, it’s a way-cool-awesome plugin! ?? B

    Looks very impressive – I’ve added it to my plugin toolbox.

    Thanks for sharing.

    @rdell … aw, fursur … if @michael hadn’t popped in with the first plugin link, which I investigated and tested, … I would not have gone searching like a fiend and found this plugin, the ‘impressive’ one called ‘Shortcode-Ultimate’ … and thanks to Kim Doyal for doing a YT Video about it and singing its praises. Her comment about it being her “favorite” is what made me pay attention.

    And I have to tell you it is behaving very nicely in the sandbox with another plugin it its genre, by the name of ‘Types’ a plugin that is part of the Types | Views | Cred | Access family of plugins.

    ‘Shortcode Ultimate’ is doing what I would have had to pay for, with Views, or I would have had to get down & dirty with PHP, which hey, I’m not really lookin’ to be a PHP mechanic right now, lol, not that I wouldn’t like to grasp it, it’s just too much of a learning curve for now.

    I owe both these guys and look forward to making respectable contributions to both, and even to CCTM, because I learned bunches, even though I cannot use CCTM plugin, as it conflicts with Yoast’s WP SEO plugin.

    See the outcome of Types (for creating custom post type) and Shortcode Ultimate (for displaying list via shortcode in lieu of PHP) on this page … https://the-rv-life.com/rv-resources/rv-info-sites/ … it’s winner-winner-chicken-dinner time!
