Can someone help me, please? I’m trying to figure how I can display GIFS directly on Facebook along with the URL.

I see many sites that can do this, like this one: https://www.gif-vif.com/

However, I don’t know how to do the same with my website. I’ve tried wuploaing the GIF image with Yoast, but the GIF is showing as static image on Facebook.

    Hi,

Can you provide an example of a Facebook post that shows the gif alongside a URL? That way we can take a closer look at what exactly is happening.

    Hi!
    Sure!
Here are some websites that create the GIF preview when posted on FB:

    Hi!

This is an issue. We would expect Yoast to output a gif image with the right tag for Facebook to use. We do not.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with our plugin. An issue report is currently open with our development team for this issue.

In the meantime, we suggest signing up for our newsletter as that is where we will announce product changes and updates. You may sign-up for it here https://yoast.com/ by scrolling towards the bottom to complete the sign-up field.

    Oh, got it!
    Is there any workaround?
I mean, can I manually edit the tags?

    Hi,

We do have a filter: wpseo_opengraph_image which you can use to develop on along with some code snippets here https://gist.github.com/amboutwe/811e92b11e5277977047d44ea81ee9d4. You might be able to use it force Yoast to output a gif.

Unfortunately, there’s a difference between the support we can offer and the level of programming needed to change (core) features of our plugin. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such changes. And even though we cannot be of any assistance, you’re completely free to change anything in the plugin to better suit your needs.

We highly recommend checking out?our list of Yoast Partners here https://yoast.com/yoast-partners/ in case you are in need of development.

We will also keep this issue open for 1 week in case someone from the community can help. Perhaps a developer watching these forums can assist further. After which, we will close in order to keep the overview.
