• Hello,

I would like to display a .gif in a portfolio entry but it shows unanimated unless I click on it. How can I make it reproduce automatically? And how can I make a Featured Image that is .gif animated too?

    Thank you!

    Hi @declosmartin,

You have to select the “Full” image size when you embed the image. If you select one of the other ones, WordPress will use a version which has been cropped and compressed, and have had the frames removed.

For featured images, using GIFs shouldn’t be a problem, as long as you don’t use a GIF with a very large resolution.

    Hello Anders,

Thank you for the quick answer!
When I upload a file in the Media Library I don’t have the option to choose size.

@delclosmarti No problem! I meant you embed the GIF in a post or page.

    Ah ok! ??

But when I save the gif in the Media Library it is saved as a single frame, so when I add the gif in a portfolio entry as an image (instead of embedded in a post) it is still unanimated. The same when setting the Featured Image.

    Thank you!

Can you post a link to the page where you’re embedding the GIF?

(The first image is the gif embedded in the post and the second in the photos section. I am using Hamilton + Minimalist Portfolio)

    Thank you!
