Display image details in portfolio

Hi,
I’m new to WordPress and have limited knowledge of creating webpages/coding. I’m using the Serenity theme (by Century Themes) and am trying to figure out if there is a way I can display the image title and/or description in the portfolio view – preferably below the image but a roll-over would do. Do I need to add extra coding into the content-portfolio.php? If so what would it be? Or am I completely off the mark? Thanks in advance for any help offered. Trust me it’s appreciated, my head’s about to explode as I been going down the WordPress wormhole for hours trying to figure this!
