Display Media (PDF) in search archive

  • Hi,

    I have lots of PDF files embedded into pages on my site, when I do a search on the site for a keyword and the results are displayed on the search archive page, I would like it to show a list of all PDF documents (uploaded into the media gallery) that use the keyword I searched for in their titles.

    At the moment it only shows me a list of the pages which have those files embedded into them, is there a way for it to list the files instead of the pages?

    Or even better but I presume much more complicated, would be for it to display the PDF under the page it can be found on.

    I don’t know if this is something that can be changed in wordpress, requires a plug-in or custom coding, any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

    To update, I used the ‘search everything’ plugin to make this possible.

    The problem I now face is that the documents themselves are restricted to only be viewed by those who have logged into the site, it has been set up using the membership 2 plugin to restrict the pages of the documents rather than the documents… So mow these are displayed in the search!

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
